Comedy is genre of film in which the main emphasis is on humour. Now this comedy has become one of the main streams of YouTube. Comedy channels are growing at a very fast rate in YouTube. New comics are arising at a good pace in India. In such criteria it is very important to lay emphasis on the content they are producing. Among the comedy channels of YouTubers from India, TVF (The Viral Fever) is one of the best. The genres in which this channel produces its contents is Drama and Comedy. 

Members of this channel are Arunabh Kumar, Amit Golani, Biswapati Sarkar, Jitendra Kumar, Deepak Mishra, Nidhi Bisht, Anandeshwar Dwivedi, Vaibhav Bundhoo. Notable works of TVF are Permanent Roommates, TVF Pitchers, Barely Speaking with Arnub, The Making of Series, Chai Sutta Chronicles, Tech Conversations with Dad. In this post, the main focus of discussion is Permanent Roommates. Permanent Roommates is a web series, which was second most-viewed long-formed web series in the world at one time. This series mainly focuses on long distance relationships and the problems faced by people in long distance relationship. This series has clearly picturised the reality in long distance relationships but with humorous touch. Mikesh (Summet Vyas) and Tanya (Nidhi Singh) have played the main roles. Tanya is an aggressive and an independent girl. Mikesh is an innocent man and loves Tanya a lot, the only thing he knows.

Rise of Stand-Up comedians in India

Almost every human in the world is leading a stressful life these days. One of the best medicines for stress is comedy. The trending style of comedy in today's generation is "Stand-Up Comedy". Clearly, now-a-days people are getting attracted to these kind of shows. What is Stand-Up comedy? Stand-Up comedy is a comic style in which a comedian performs in front of a live audience, usually speaking directly to them. The comedian is commonly known as comic. He receives the responses instantly from the audience. He/she immediately understands how good he is, at cracking the joke. There will be a lot of pressure in the mind of speaker. Yet he manages to make the people laugh.

This era of Stand-Up Comedy has begun long back. United Kingdom has a good heritage of this, which began in the music halls of 18^th and 19^th centuries. This is used as a weapon by most of the speakers during Second World War to attract people to wartime concert parties. Later, some of such speakers made this as their profession. With the rise of television and radio these shows has got a huge popularity. Many shows are running based on this concept in many channels. Simultaneously there is a huge growth in comics too.

But the revolution of Stand-Up comedy shows began in India during 1980’s (a bit too late ;p). Johnny Lever is one of the first Stand-Up comedians in India. He initially performed in some musical shows. Now, there are many other Indian comics like Kapil Sharma, Raju Shrivastav, Krishna Abhishek etc., in the field of television/films. There are also comics in YouTube like Vir Das, Abish Mathew, Kanan Gill etc. There are female comics too (quite a few but awesome). Many festivals are being run taking this Stand-Up comedy as theme. Stand-Up comedy is the focus of four major international festivals: the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Just for Laughs, HBO’s U.S. Comedy arts festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Comedy nights with Kapil is the most watched comedy show in India. This is hosted by actor-comedian Kapil Sharma. This show received many awards. It received Best serial-Comedy awarded by ITA Awards 2013. Most entertaining comedy show  by BIG Star Entertainment awards 2013, Best comedy show by Star Guild Awards 2014. Host Kapil Sharma also became more popular by the show. He received the “Entertainer of the Year” by CNN-IBN Indian of the year. His spontaneous reactions add very much to the show.

This show invites many Bollywood celebrities as guests. It not only invites Bollywood celebrities but also sports persons.Celebrities use this show to promote their movies.
